One of the World's Finest 100% Grenache Blanc's, Top 100 Wines of 2018, Only $28.99!
Hi Folks, We get so many requests for Grenache Blanc often from travellers who've tried it after visiting the majestic wine region of Terra Alta in Catalunya, (south of Barcelona, where its called Garnatxa Blanca). However, most of the Grenache Blanc that you do see imported into Australia is usually of the blended kind (not that there is anything wrong with that). For me though, the best representation of Grenache Blanc is to enjoy it in all its glory and that's what we have today a 100% Garnatxa Blanca from Terra Alta in Catalunya. If you've only ever been exposed to Grenache Blanc from France (most likely the Rhone Valley or Languedoc-region, which gravitate to more of a florally and green fruit offering, than strap yourself in as the Catalan style features a lot more fruit and minerality intensity (due to the abundance of limestone prevalent in the soils throughout the region). One particular wine which best showcases the unique Catalan style is the 2017 Edetaria 'Via Terra' Garnatxa Blanca. So what its like?... well it features a lovely combination of aromas including apricots, melon, pears, minerality, citrus and orange blossom along with touches of cinnamon all wrapped up with well integrated crisp acidity and creamy texture. (Its delicious!) But, if I my word's not enough to convince you.... than how about one of the World's Biggest Wine Magazine's 'Wine Spectator', who've just named this as one of their Top 100 Wines of 2018! Their most influential wine writer Bruce Sanderson was most impressed by the texture and primary notes of pear, guava, tarragon and blanched almond flavours on show. At only $28.99 this is an absolute bargain for a straight varietal Grenache Blanc, that has serious recommendation's from the foremost wine critics in the World.
"A bright array of melon and pear with a lighter palate and an apple, light lemon and peach finish.'' 92 Points, James Suckling
''This white has a thick texture, delivering pear, guava, tarragon and blanched almond flavors. Firm acidity and a touch of tannins give this a solid frame. Very balanced.'' Top 100 Wines 2018, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator Magazine
