'' Fresh, herbal, mineral and stony, this is a stunner in texture and electricity, all the while displaying subdued notes of juicy pears, sea salts and the brightest acidity.'' 91 Points, Anthony Gismondi
One of our most requested white wines is Vinho Verde from Portugal. We've had many customer's who after returning from Portugal have been amazed by the unique style and personality that Vinho Verde brings. The Vinho Verde that we have on offer today comes from the most revered winemaker in the entire region; Anselmo Mendes. His 2017 Muros Antigos Vinho Verde is a blend of Alvarinho, Loureiro and Avesso. The Alvarinho conveys structure and body; Loureiro offers aromatic intensity; and Avesso brings acidity and minerality. Its very floral and citrussy with juicy tangerine notes, mingling with jasmine and gardenia blossoms. His style is dry, fresh and vibrant and his wines can age phenomenally well, up to 2 decades!
Here's what the critic's had to say...
''New vintage, same story. Anselmo Mendes is a Vinho Verde icon from the Monção and Melgaço sub-regions, areas the French would call Cru quality. The secret is the steep sloping granitic hillsides that seem to simply take over the wine on the palate. Fresh, herbal, mineral and stony, this is a stunner in texture and electricity, all the while displaying subdued notes of juicy pears, sea salts and the brightest acidity. Precise is the descriptor. Oh, and you can pair it with anything and keep it forever. Real wine. Stupid value.'' 91 Points, Anthony Gismondi
''Young and fruity, this wine is attractive and bright. With its citrus zing, crisp bone-dry texture and intense refreshing acidity. A blend of Loureiro, Alvarinho and Avesso.''Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast Magazine
