''Very attractive and classic varietal nose with herby fruit and grassy notes. The palate offers crisp acidity with a little bit of waxiness and tasty stone fruit flavours. Lovely, long, finish. A classy wine.'' 96 Points, Decanter Magazine
Hi Folks, what a way to celebrate the sunshine in Spring with a Top-echelon Verdicchio from Italy's Le Marche Region. Verdicchio may well be a relatively unknown white grape varietal in Australia, but in Le Marche (an Eastern Region of Italy), Verdicchio has more or less put Le Marche on the map with centuries of wine-growing tradition.
The Verdicchio which we have the pleasure of showcasing today is 2017 Umani Ronchi Casal di Sera from the Verdicchio dei Jesi Classico Superiore Appellation. What I really like about this dry white wine is its combination of balanced richness on the palate along with its well roundness and fresh aromas which lead to a crisp drinking sensation with notes of ripe peaches, apples, exotic fruits, hazelnuts, butter and minerality all playing their part.
It seems that I'm not the only one is a fan of this crisp white as its been turning heads at wine shows and with the International scribes most notably the Decanter World Wine Awards who not only awarded it with a Gold Medal, but had this to say about it ''Very attractive and classic varietal nose with herby fruit and grassy notes. The palate offers crisp acidity with a little bit of waxiness and tasty stone fruit flavours. Lovely, long, finish. A classy wine.'' 96 Points, Decanter Magazine
''Complexity and clarity on the nose. The sensations expressed in this phase are many, all rich in authenticity. Fruit is obviously the protagonist without excessive of maturity, remaining lively and crispy. Still on the nose, tropical fruity touches and aromatic fresh herbs. Juicy and long.'' 92 Points, Luca Gardini
''Lovely, ripe-pear character with a hint of baking spice, making this generous and quite richly textured white enticing. The finish is long and fresh.'' 91 Points, James Suckling
'Bright, fresh verdicchio with a fruity, nutty, buttery nose. The attack is mouthwatering led by citrus, butter, guava, peaches and minerality. Terrific value.'' Anthony Gismondi
