Château La Grange Cochard Morgon Vieilles Vignes Gamay 2015

''This is grown from vines up to 80-years old. The fragrance is lovely, perfumed with roses, violets and red plums. This fruit-driven with a spark of black nut and coffee-pepper that brings the finish alive. '' Meg Houston Maker, TerroirReview.com

Hi Folks,  There are certain reds that often just hit the right spot, you can't quite put your finger on it, but you keep coming back to it, because its just too delicious!....and we reckon today's featured 2015 Gamay from the prestigious Morgon appellation in Beaujolais falls into this category. The Chateau La Grange Cochard Morgon Vieilles Vignes 2015 is our most sought after Beaujolais in our Entire Store (irrespective of price) its just beautiful! For me what sets this apart from a lot of other Beaujolais on the market is the vintage 2015 and the style found in the Morgon Appellation. Prolific wine writer James Suckling hit the nail on the head when he was describing the quality found in 2015 ''Historic vintages don’t come very often in France’s Beaujolais, but winemakers are comparing the 2015 vintage to the legendary 1947, producing powerfully rich and long-lived wines. and I can say they are more than right. 2015 is an Excellent vintage in Beaujolais.''  James Suckling

In regards to the flavour profile of this Morgon Vieilles Vignes Gamay; its highlighted by charming cherries, strawberry and dark fruits, complimented with touches of spice, savouriness, light oak, minerality and earthy nuances with well developed structure and a good balance of acidity. Having aged 4 years their is a nice gentle richness and soft tannins on display  (it will continue to develop further complexities over the next 1-2 years) That's my take on this delicious Red, but for more in-depth analysis, I advise you to read the glowing reports from today's featured scribes who are all in agreement that this is worth grabbing a case of and enjoying now and for the next year or 2!

''The terrific 2015 Morgon Vieilles Vignes offers up beautiful aromas of cherry pit, rose petal and raspberries. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and nicely concentrated, with good juicy, balancing acids, fine-grained tannins and a youthfully chewy, well-defined finish.'' 91 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate Magazine

''Bright violet. Mineral-accented dark berries, pungent flowers and peppery spices on the powerfully scented nose. Pliant and expansive on the palate, offering juicy boysenberry, cherry liqueur and violet pastille flavors that unfurl steadily on the back half. The floral note returns on the clinging, penetrating finish, which is shaped by smooth, harmonious tannins.'' 91 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media

‘'The nose is deep, sappy and exuberant, offering up scents of black cherries, sweet dark berries, a touch of  chocolate, lovely soil tones and a bit of apricot in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with ripe tannins, good focus and grip and a very long, primary and cool finish.'' 91 Points, John Gilman, View From The Cellar

''Juicy and well-meshed, featuring red plum and raspberry flavors woven together with tangy acidity that brings out the spice, herb and mineral details. Offers a crisp and refreshing finish.'' 90 Points, Gillian Sciaretta, Wine Spectator Magazine

'It has a clean bouquet with mint-tinged black cherry fruit and just a hint of kirsch developing with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with fleshy ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit, a healthy pinch of white pepper and a supple, quite deep finish. This is worth checking out and it has the substance to age.'' 90 Points, Neil Martin

''This is grown from vines up to 80-years old. The fragrance is lovely, perfumed with roses, violets and red plums. The palate is fruit-driven with a spark of black nut and coffee-pepper that brings the finish alive. ''
