''This reflects notes of florals, white pepper and pears. The middle weight flavors exude minerality on the notably drier and more complex finale. This is really quite good.'' Allan Meadows, Burghound.com
''A markedly more floral nose reflects notes of white pepper and pears. The tighter and more precise middle weight flavors exude more evident minerality on the notably drier and more complex finale. This is really quite good and a wine that should drink well young as well as with 3 to 5 years of bottle age.'' Allan Meadows, Burghound.com
''Domaine Barat Premier Cru Vaillons hits the spot with a core of mineral intensity and crisp detail, while still having a sense of richness and texture. This Cru is set on south facing slopes with ancient Kimmeridgian limestone soils which give this wine it’s driving terroir character and mineral focused personality with a steely/flinty briskness and vibrant green apple, pear and zesty citrus fruits in a finely tuned white wine that opens to an elegant mouth feel, while never losing its energy.'' 91 Points, GrapeLive.com (Previous Vintage Review)
This is well-built and long in the mouth. The Premier Cru Vaillons Chablis beguiles the palate, whether mineral and tight in its youth or flowery and developing delicate and subtle aromas with age.
The Vaillons comes from 50-60 year old vines grown on the classic Chablis Kimmeridgian soils, which contain fossilized marine organisms and other elements crucial for developing complexity and longevity in Chardonnay.
