"This juicy and fruity Riesling is gorgeous to enjoy today, though you can easily cellar it for a decade or two" 90 points. Stephan Reinhardt, RobertParker.com
"Sweet honey and citrus aromas, lemon, lime, fresh and gorgeous, a lovely nose, a step up in ripeness and intensity from the 2018 vintage kabinett. It's also had an extra year in bottle to build its bouquet and richness. A very smart wine. (20 g/l sweetness) Drink: 2020-2030." 93 points - Huon Hooke, therealreview.com
"The 2017 Thanisch Riesling Kabinett opens with a very fine, delicate and crystalline nose of crushed and weathered slate intertwined with bright fruit and floral aromas. Round and charming on the palate, this is a lush, mouth-filling and fine-structured Kabinett bottled with 10.5% alcohol and 20 grams of residual sugar. This juicy and fruity Riesling is gorgeous to enjoy today, though you can easily cellar it for a decade or two" 90 points. Stephan Reinhardt, RobertParker.com
"Dusty notes of earth and dried herb mingle into fresh lemon and lime on the nose of this sprightly Kabinett. Fresh pear and pineapple flavors are crisply concentrated, accented by a hint of candlewax. A sweet-tart, light-footed wine that should improve through 2025 and hold further." Decanter Magazine
The Thanisch family has cultivated wine continuously since the year 1636 and can look back on a history covering more than 375 years. The estate has been run as a family business for 11th generation, of which the last four generations were women. The boutique estate is 7 ha (16 acres) in size, including the most famous vineyard in Germany, the Berncasteler Doctor and the top vineyards Bernkasteler Badstube, Bernkasteler Lay and Bernkasteler Graben. All of the vineyards are planted with 100% Riesling vines, most of which are mature and on original rootstocks.
