One of the most respected Puglian wineries with over 100 years of skill and tradition: this pack showcases 3 of our favourite reds from this multi-award winning Winery!
Hi Folks, The highly respected Varvaglione Vigne e Vini estate from Puglia is one of the oldest and most awarded family run Southern Italian wineries. Having recently celebrated their 100th Birthday we thought it would be a fitting gesture to pay tribute to this bastion of Puglian skill and tradition by bringing into the limelight 3 of our favourite Varvaglione Puglia Reds in a Winter special 3 Pack! With the consistent quality produced by Varvaglione right across their vast collection of reds, it was a challenging task to narrow it down to 3 select wines, but we believe the Varvaglione family will be delighted with our choice as this offer's a great spectrum of two of their best value smooth elegant Reds, the Primitivo del Salento and the Negroamaro del Salento and of course we couldn't leave out their flagship Red the mighty Papale Primitivo di Manduria, a great red worthy of its Papal status.
Varvaglione Dodici e Mezzo Primitivo del Salento 2021
''A great value Primitivo del Salento from the Puglia wine region produced by the Varvaglione family. Look for ripe plum, cherry compote, dark chocolate and vanilla flavours on the palate in the smooth red.'' Natalie Maclean (Previous Vintage Review)
Varvaglione Vigne e Vini Linea Oro 'Papale' Primitivo Di Manduria 2019
"The features of its most sumptuous consistency are first and foremost in the dense depth of its tint, in the opaque strength of its intense colour. Therefore, in the thickness and wealth of the perfume: successive levels of the overlapping flesh of berries, fused with strands of minty spice that hint at medicinal liniments, yet with deep notes of forest fruit. If the sense of smell is resinous, the touch is real cream. Cassis jam, made plump and pulpy from the tannin. And if the dosage of spices and the oenological sharpness of transformation give the complexity the balanced radiance of the whole, the last sign of its thick density is the unwillingness of its most soothing and minty fruit echoes to vanish. Among the best Italian reds of the year." 97 Points, Luca Maroni, Annuario Del Migliori Vini Italiani Awards 2020 (Previous Vintage Review)
Varvaglione Dodici e Mezzo Negroamaro del Salento 2020
Ruby red with shades of purple; the nose has fascinating scents of wild berries. The palate is marked by plums, vanilla, ripe fruits, with a long lingering finish and a velvety texture.
I should also add that all three wines have received the highest accolades from International Wine Shows, having been awarded Gold Medals and Gambero Rosso Guide's Tre-Bicchieri many times before with all three wines having already won 4 x gold medal's between them from 2021-2022.
