Domaine Quenard Les Abymes Mineral Savoie Jacquere 2023

This Jacquère is freshness personified, a reflection of the purity of its Alpine home. We love the zippy acidity on this one, yet there’s also a satisfying orchard-fruit core that adds a bit of texture to a highly mineral-driven sip.

Hi Folks, For our penultimate newsletter of the year we have returned to France with our very first wine from one of France's hidden treasures the Savoie wine region. Yes, we are breaking new ground here with our debut entry from the beautiful mountainous region famous for the Col du Galibier and Le Tour de France. And their is no better introduction to Savoie than the region's most iconic white wine Jacquère. One of the finest exponents of Jacquère comes from producers Domaine Quenard with their latest creation the 2023 Les Abymes Mineral being freshness personified, a reflection of the purity of its Alpine home. We love the zippy acidity on this one, yet there’s also a satisfying orchard-fruit core that adds a bit of texture to a highly mineral-driven style. Producers André & Michel Quenard (and the next generation, Guillaume) are known for pulling dynamic wines from their complex and demanding terroir and they certainly done it again here.
Note: We've bought every bottle available of the 2023 vintage as we're sure you're going to love this!

''Savoie is a beautiful region where grown on slopes on the French Alps. The wines are not that well known outside of France or even outside of Savoie. Jacquère has a good acidity, freshness and a nose of citrus and acacia.'' Britt Karlsson, Forbes.com

''Savoie is one of France’s smallest wine region and is known for its zippy white wines, whose light, fresh characters have made them undeniable crowd-pleasers. Jacquère is one the star performers in the region’s mountain vineyards.'' Gilbert & Gaillard France Guide

''A Jacquère from the Abymes appellation in Savoie can represent the essence of ideal mountain wine more so than any other in Europe. Even when produced from older vines and October-harvested, it rarely exceeds 11.5%; its natural state, if you like, is one of aerial lightness.  Its flavours are sculpted by fresh, sappy acidity, but at the same time it is not burdened by excessive or overt fruit flavours.  It whispers stony minerality. Lees contact can add a little creaminess of texture. Above all, it’s mouth-watering to taste!'' Andrew Jefford, Decanter Magazine

If you love Mountain-style Pinot Grigio from the high-altitudes of Trentino Alto Adige, than you're going to love Jacquère from the Savoie region produced in the searing peaks of the French Alps!
