The buzz about the Spanish wine region of Almansa is only going to get louder when people taste wines like this. The region seems to be spearheading a new direction in Spanish wine towards lighter, fresher, silkier reds with lower alcohol and an appetising dryness that makes them so versatile with food, showing more of an affinity with the textural fragility of Pinot Noir. The Envinate Albahra Garnacha Tintorera Blend 2023 is the perfect example of the New Spain with its oh-so-fine and elegant and beautifully tailored to fit its shape. The aromas are pure and wild, refreshing and dark fruited, full of chalky minerality and earth spice. Keep a keen eye out for suggestions of red plum, blueberries, strawberry and purple floral notes with a touch of liquorice and soft, ripe tannins. A blend of Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) and Moravia Agria from Almansa.. It’s an utterly beguiling Spanish red.
"This shows really lovely aromas of violets, stones and dried herbs. The palate is juicy, with succulent blue fruit flavors. Precise and savory. Amazing value.'' 93 Points, James Suckling
