Hi Folks, winemaker Fritz Miesbauer is a Gruner Veltliner superstar in Austria having built a stellar reputation for himself at Domäne Wachau, which he turned into one of the world's finest cooperative wineries. The respect that he has in Austria is best illustrated having taken the reins as winemaker at 2 leading wineries Stift Gottweig and Stadt Krems, how he finds the time to manage both of these 500 + year old estates is beyond me! It seems though all his hard work has paid off though having been crowned the Falstaff Magazine '2020 Winemaker of the Year'; the German speaking World's most important Wine guide. (that's no mean feat!)
One of Fritz Miesbauer signature Gruner Veltliner's is the Stadt Krems Lössterrassen Gruner Veltliner from the Kremstal appellation which provides an ideal environment for this fresh delicately spicy Grüner Veltliner. With slight tanginess, fruit-driven aromas of pineapple and grapefruit allied to pleasing acidity along with a long, harmonious finish. That's my take on this delicious Gruner Veltliner!
''Delicate yellow apple fruit, a hint of meadow herbs, tobacco nuances. Medium-bodied, white pear fruit, some honeydew melon, slightly spicy finish. '' Falstaff Wine Guide (Previous Vintage Review)
