Talenti Rosso di Montalcino 2024

''Bright ruby red. Delicate nose, elegant fruit, reminiscent of cherry and raspberry, followed by thyme blossom. Elegant on the palate, harmonious interplay of tannins and acidity, spicy finish.'' 92 Points, Falstaff Wine Guide

When I'm asked to name my favourite Italian Red, the answer is always Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany. It remains one of the world's great wines, although it's usually reserved for special occasions!

If a Brunello isn't quite within budget, then the next best thing is its little brother, Rosso di Montalcino — often referred to as the "Baby Brunello." Crafted from the same prized Sangiovese grown in Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino is designed to deliver earlier-drinking enjoyment while retaining much of the character and pedigree that makes the region so famous.

Montalcino is regarded as the world's most revered home of Sangiovese, and that reputation comes with a premium price tag. A quality Rosso di Montalcino will often set you back anywhere from $60–$70+ a bottle, but today we've managed to do considerably better than that.

''Bright ruby red with delicate rim brightening. Delicate nose, elegant fruit, reminiscent of cherry and raspberry, followed by thyme blossom. Elegant on the palate, harmonious interplay of tannins and acidity, spicy finish.'' 92 Points, Falstaff Wine Guide
