''A savory and pretty nuanced Vino Nobile here showing plums, mineral and fine spices. A twist of mineral salinity on the palate with firm, tense tannins and a pure finish.'' 92 Points, James Suckling
''The 2019 is a total pleasure on the nose. Sweet spice compliments bright raspberry and cherry aromas. This envelopes the palate with silky textures balanced by juicy acidity as rose-tinged red berries cascade across the palate. It leaves a gentle coating of fine tannins while maintaining a lovely energy as hard red candy hints fade.'' 91 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous Media
''Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Tuscany’s most iconic and historic red wines. Produced in a territory in the eastern part of the region, Vino Nobile is a Sangiovese-based wine that is generally categorized as one of the three great reds of Tuscany.'' Tom Hyland, Forbes.com
''Avignonesi's Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is my favourite example of that perfect Tuscan. This is one of the top three regions in the world for Sangiovese, and is probably the best example of complex red fruit expression.'' Emily Siegel, Forbes.com
Avignonesi is one of the oldest wineries in Italy. Like many historic estates, the origins of this emblematic winery parallel the movements of the Catholic Church. In 1377, when Pope Gregory XI moved the papal residence from Avignon, France back to Rome, one of the noble families who followed him to Italy eventually settled in Montepulciano, Tuscany and founded Avignonesi.
