, Over the journey we've had the privilege of bringing to you some of the best value wines from the very beautiful region of Catalunya home to historical appellations such as Terra Alta and Monsant. However their has been one particular Catalan wine appellation that has tantalisingly been just out of reach for us, and it is truly held in the highest reverence by anyone who gets to try it and that is of course the mighty Priorat.... Well I've got great news our Catalan story is now complete as today on special we have not just any Priorat, but a straight varietal Garnatxa from the legendary Scala Dei Winery, which happens to be the oldest winery in all of Priorat. Its origins lie in the lands surrounding the Scala Dei Monastery, where Carthusian Monks made wine as far back as the year 1163. Today, the same spirit of artisanal craftsmanship is maintained and adapted to new techniques. The Scala Dei wines are a true expression of the terroir, made using very special vineyards in a prime location at 400-800 metres altitude. The  Scala dei Garnatxa has body, finesse, a silky mouthfeel with ripe elegant tannins which are enhanced by the mineral aromas from the licorella soil. With lingering aromas of red and black fruit, wild strawberries, blackberries, violet floral nuances underlain with supple spiciness and toasty notes. A delicious and well-structured Priorat.
