Cantine di Ora Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2023

''Bright and energetic with pure and focussed fruits, including red and black cherry, nice forest floor character. Crisp acidity with a lovely overall elegance.'' 93 Points,  International Wine Challenge 2026

We're breaking new ground here at European Wine Store with our very first Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore - a style more affectionately known throughout the wine world as "Baby Amarone."

To mark this special occasion, we've chosen one of the most exciting new releases to emerge from Italy's Veneto region;  the critically acclaimed 2023 Cantine di Ora Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, arguably the winery's finest release to date. Their latest creation has already captured the attention of some of the biggest wine writers with Italy's leading wine critic Luca Maroni bestowing an impressive 97 Point rating with particular focus on its exceptional balance, roundness and beautifully soft richness.  Those qualities were further recognised by the judges at the recently concluded 2026 International Wine Challenge with a glowing review below further extolling the virtues of this Baby Amarone.

Sitting perfectly between the power of Amarone and the elegance of Valpolicella, the beautifully layered Cantine di Ora brings vibrant cherry and red berry fruit wrapped in hints of cocoa, spice, and delicate savoury complexity. The palate is silky and generous, supported by refined tannins and a lingering finish that strikes an ideal balance between freshness, richness and depth.

Nestled in the heart of the Veneto, where history, culture and romance intertwine between the iconic cities of Verona and Venice, Cantine di Ora is unmistakably Venetian - fruit-driven, authentic and wonderfully expressive.

''This is the younger, fresher expression of the same world-class Northern Italian terroir that gives us the famous Amarone. In fact, Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore are often referred to as Baby Amarone. They have really good concentration, freshness and soft richness.'' Katie Kelly Bell, Forbes.com
