Domaine de Javernière Morgon Côte du Py Gamay 2020

''The 2020 release has a harmonious combination of minerals and dark fruits. A very well structured Côte du Py with fine tannins.'' 92 Points, Michael Apstein

Hi Folks,  Many moons ago we had the pleasure of bringing you the Chateau La Grange Cochard Morgon 'Les Charmes' Gamay; at $35 it was one of our most requested Gamay from our entire store. That is all gone, however don't despair as your friendly folk at European Wine Store have done the hard work for you and I can confidently say we've found an excellent successor in the  2020 Domaine de Javernière Morgon Côte du Py!.. Gamay from the Morgon Côte du Py appellation in Beaujolais are generally seen as having the best terroir in the World and will normally set you back anywhere between $55 - $70+ but not here!....From just $34.95 the Domaine de Javernière Morgon Côte du Py 2020 offers incredible value for Gamay and has very much flown under the radar in Australia, (until now!)  The 2020 edition reveals intense aromas of dark berries with hints of kirsch and spices. Fresh and clean on the palate, this is a powerful, well structured wine with fine tannins. This is a stylish Gamay bearing the hallmarks of the prestigious Morgon Cote du Py terroir with its classic structure, minerally and fruit-driven tones with a long and spicy finish. Produced by Georges Duboef affectionally known as Mr Beaujolais in France a champion of Gamay and revered for making single vineyard Gamay from the cru appellations of Beaujolais.

''Highlighted by dark berry and stoney flavours.  Medium bodied with fine tannins that are polished and nicely frame the flavours on show.'' James Suckling

''Georges Duboef, sometimes called Mr Beaujolais, is renowned for producing single-vineyard wines from the crus of Beaujolais — 10 villages in the north of the region thought to have characteristics distinctive enough that their names, like Morgon and Fleurie, became appellations. With a deep-seated, almost microscopic knowledge of the landscape of Beaujolais, a passion for communicating the singular, joyous nature of Beaujolais and a reputation as a great wine taster.'' Eric Asmimov, New York Times
