J. Lassalle Blanc de Blancs 2011

Champagne J. Lassalle was founded in 1942 by Jules Lassalle in Chigny-les-Roses on the Montagne de Reims and has remained a family-run grower Champagne house ever since. Their 2011 Blanc de Blancs Brut Premier Cru is made entirely from Chardonnay, sourced from Premier Cru vineyards on clay-limestone soils, with vines averaging around 50 years of age. The wine spent a minimum of nine years ageing on its lees before disgorgement, building impressive depth while retaining the precision and freshness expected of Blanc de Blancs.

Now beautifully mature, the 2011 combines pear, apple and citrus fruit with white flowers, mineral notes and the extra texture and complexity that comes from extended lees ageing. Fine, dry and composed, with a long, fresh finish. An excellent mature grower Champagne, and one recognised with 92 points from both Vinous and Wine & Spirits.
