Hi Folks, Exciting news for Spanish wine fans, after a lengthy delay, our first White from Spain's 2024 vintage is finally here! The Miguel Arroyo Izquierdo Demimo Rueda Verdejo was one of the surprise hits of last 12 months and we're so happy to have it back as it quickly became our favourite Verdejo! For lovers of textural Spanish whites; the region of Rueda in Castilla y Leon is a bedrock for this nuanced style. What sets Rueda apart from many others is that its prime focus is the cultivation of the Verdejo white varietal which makes up a staggering 93% of the entire production. With centuries of tradition and a growing demand for the varietal internationally, now is the time to get on board before the price escalates as we all know it will. And it seems we're not the only ones excited with this Rueda Verdejo; as one of the most influential wine writers on all things Spanish wine Tim Atkins has in recent times experienced all that this has to offer.
''This is from a single parcel located on the border of Segovia and Valladolid provinces, perhaps a little more on the Segovian side, and are among the highest in Rueda at over 900m. It is a very Segovian style Verdejo with bay leaf, hemp and mineral tones but it is filled out with lime and grapefruit. Flinty fresh on the finish, this is a bright, elegant and approachable young wine.'' Tim Atkins, MW
''Rueda is unusual in Spain for being a white wine region. It’s also unusual in that it’s almost, but not quite, a story of just one grape variety: Verdejo. Of the 18 000 hectares of vines here, 93% is dedicated to Verdejo.'' Jamie Goode, The Wine Anorak
