Domaine Saint Damien Gigondas Les Pres Blanc 2024

Domaine Saint Damien is one of Gigondas’ long-established family estates, with the Saurel family farming vines here since 1821 and the domaine certified organic since 2012. Les Prés Blanc is an exciting recent addition to the range, made from 100% Clairette and only the second vintage produced under the new Gigondas Blanc appellation. Fruit comes from several plateau sites around the estate, including La Moutte, La Louisiane and Les Prés, bringing together sandy soils, red clay, pebbles and limestone.

The 2024 is fresh, perfumed and finely structured, with white fruit, fresh herbs and gentle spice carried by bright acidity and a long, vibrant finish. Fermentation and maturation take place across a 1,900-litre concrete egg and a small number of seasoned barrels, with lees ageing adding texture without an obvious oak character. Yohan Castaing of The Wine Advocate awarded the wine 91 points, calling it “charming and lively.”
