J. Moreau & Fils Chardonnay 2022

Aclaimed Chablis producer J.Moreau & Fils have diversified from their long-established practice of only making chardonnay from Chablis, to produce this very affordable Chardonnay.   And guess what, it's very much like Chablis! 

I've often thought there are many bargains to be had in France, but they don't always make it to Australia, so I'm glad this one has.   Put this in a blind tasting and you'll be surprised how this stacks up against more fancied, more expensive offerings.

At half the price of Chablis, this provides great value!

It's classified as "Vins de France", meaning winemakers can source grapes from different French regions as opposed to Chablis only.  For an extreme comparison, Grange is generally a multi-regional wine, which allows Penfolds to choose grapes that make the best possible red they can and this is the same philosophy for J. Moreau & Fils 'Les Coches' Chardonnay 2022.  Not everyone's budget stretches to the $40+ required for a Chablis so this is an excellent alternative.

This has an easy going medium bodied palate, layered with smooth, soft fruits of pear and guava.  It's sure to impress both, the novice chardonnay drinker and the serious alike.
