This perfumed, fleshy, refreshing young red drawn from grapes grown at around 448 metres above sea level in the Alto Adige. It's made from a blend of two indigenous Südtirol black varieties - 60% Lagrein and 20% Schiava - as well as 20% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir). The Lagrein comes from the deep, sandy soils of the Bassa Atesina (a warm terroir ideal for ripening Lagrein). The Pinot Nero and Schiava grapes are grown on the hillside vineyards of Cornaiano in sunny, well-aired vineyards. Fermentation is in tank and old barrels. The result is a wonderfully bright and aromatic northern Italian charmer, offering flavors of raspberry, red cherry and sweet mountain herbs enclosed within a soft, fine boned Pinot-like texture. A lot to love here.
